These Four Walls, NoNoise & Park Theatre

The story follows Shaun and Sammy, a couple grappling with the strain on their relationship amid a world in upheaval. Shaun and Sammy are forced to confront not only the fractures within their own relationship but also the weight of the larger societal moment pressing down on them. The show premiered to a sold-out run at the Park Theatre and received rave reviews from audiences.

The English Moor, Globe Theatre

Steven and dramaturg Zoë Svendsen reimagined Richard Brome’s satirical comedy The English Moor for a new audience.
Presented as part of Shakespeare’s Globe’s 2024 season, The English Moor was performed script-in-hand in the intimate, candle-lit Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. This production also marked the revival of the Globe’s Read Not Dead series.

Steven was one of the writers on Sky Arts’ groundbreaking television premiere GALWAD—a bold, multilingual, multiplatform story imagining a possible future in the year 2052. His contribution to the project featured actor Kel Matsena and formed part of an ambitious narrative experiment that blended live performance, TV drama, digital storytelling, and real-time events.

Torchwood, Big Finish

Rafaella Marcus’ The Last Love Song of Suzie Costello—directed by Steven Kavuma—stars Olivier Award-winning actor Indira Varma, alongside Danielle Kassaraté and James Backway, in an emotionally charged Torchwood audio drama. The production received rave reviews from fans.

Steven led the National Youth Theatre’s part-time intake course for 18+, directing a vibrant final showcase performed in the Music Hall.

Romeo & Juliet, Globe Theatre & Royal Scotland Conservatoire
Director
As part of Shakespeare’s Globe partnership with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Steven served as Course Director for their intensive four-week MA/MFA Classical and Contemporary Text course, culminating in his direction of Romeo and Juliet performed in the iconic Sam Wanamaker Playhouse.

Tomorrow Night Live, Seven Dials Playhouse

Written by Lucy Owen and Georgie Wallace, with additional material developed by the company, the play is a darkly funny, satirical take on how intersecting identities collide in a broken world. Tackling themes of class, race, and women’s safety, the show premiered at Seven Dials Playhouse and received ★★★★ from Everything Theatre.

In These Four Walls, ArtsEd

Created in response to the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis in May 2020, and the subsequent global resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement, the play is a visceral exploration of systemic racism in society, white privilege, and how both affect a group of young people searching for difficult answers to complicated questions.

Teleportation, Bunker Theatre
Director
Ronkẹ Adékoluẹjo’s Teleportation—starring Antonia Layiwola and Lee Ravitz—marked Steven’s directorial debut. The production sold out its run and earned acclaimed reviews from The Stage and Afridiziak, along with ★★★★ from The Upcoming and A Younger Theatre.

Seven Dials Playhouse
Head of Programming
Steven was Head of Programming for the West End-based venue, curating its 2023 season which featured Post Traumatic Slay Disorder by Lois-Amber Toole, Sankofa by Nicole Acquah, and PlayFight by Christina Alagaratnam. The season received strong press and Offie nominations, with Steven’s tenure marking a period of artistic renewal and leading on a new artistic policy for the organisation.

This is Black, Bunker Theatre
Curator and producer
Frustrated by the lack of diversity at the Edinburgh Fringe and in fringe theatre, Steven created and curated This Is Black, a bold festival at the Bunker Theatre celebrating urgent new writing from Black artists. The festival received Offie nominations, was named in Time Out’s “Must-See” list, and earned critical acclaim—The Stage praised it as “full of raw talent,” The Upcoming gave it ★★★★, and A Younger Theatre described it as politically powerful.

Tottenham Symphony, Royal Court Theatre
